Μain issue discussed concerned the strengthening of the cultural cooperation between Greece and India
A meeting of great importance was held on Friday, October 31, at the Ministry of Culture and Sports between the Deputy Minister, Ms. Angela Gerekou, and representatives of the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India, with Mideast Travel as organizer and coordinator.
The main issues discussed concerned the strengthening of the cultural cooperation between Greece and India. Ms. Gerekou revealed the plans and changes she promotes to attract international film productions in Greece and suggested conducting a bilateral agreement for the cooperation of the two countries in the film sector as a precursor of the extension of their cultural relationships.
According to Ms. Gerekou’s statement, “The fact that our countries are the cradles of two of the most ancient civilizations has helped in the development of a relationship of mutual respect that can become the stepping stone for a constructive cooperation in the field of Modern Culture”.
The meeting was organized by Mideast, during the visit of the Indian agents in Greece (MEGA Fam Trip), an initiative directed by HATTA in collaboration with numerous players from the Greek tourism market. The aim of this educational trip was the familiarization of the most important Indian agencies with the diverse and limitless tourism product called Greece.
The Owner and Managing Director of Mideast, Ms. Katerina Mousbeh, stated: “We believe in Greece and its endless possibilities in the fields of tourism and culture, fields that gift us with the unique distinctive characteristics we enjoy as people and as destination. As the Indian market keeps demonstrating a deep affection and appreciation towards our country, we thought that the least we could do was to actively assist by bringing this delegation of Indian agents in our country, offering them the best of what Greece has to offer, in conjunction, of course, with promoting their networking with key Greek governmental factors. It is an issue that affects us all and we hope that this initiative will constitute the cornerstone of tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries in the future”.
